Homeschool Adventures

When our government made the announcement on Thursday 12th of March that all schools were to close from that evening nobody expected that we would not be back to school before the summer holidays. We suddenly had to adapt to a new way of learning which was a challenge for teachers, students and parents but we have been so impressed by the way that you rose to that challenge and gave it your best shot.

As the weeks went on the teachers set many different tasks outside of the normal, reading, writing and maths many of which had our students getting outside and enjoying our beautiful surroundings.

We had stem challenges, art competitions, active home week and our annual spring clean up. You all seemed to have great fun while using your skills and imagination to build chairs, musical instruments and huts or forts. You managed to stay fit and healthy by going on Teddy Bear adventures, home sports, cleaning up our area and gathering leaves and flowers to make self portraits. See our gallery page for some more photographs of all these activities.

Cumann na mBunscol Art Competition

Well done to Evan & Rhys for taking part- here they are receiving their prizes from Michael Murphy.

Easter Art Competition

We were so impressed with the entries for our Easter art competition. The variety of work from colouring to painting and collages to 3D structures the job of choosing winners was extremely difficult. There were four categories Junior & Senior Infants; 1st and 2nd Class; 3rd & 4th Class; 5th & 6th Class.

And the winners were:

Congratulations to all our winners. Check out our gallery page for more photos.

Strange Times

Hello everyone 🙂 We hope you are all well and that you haven’t been missing school too much since we had to close because of Covid -19 or Corona virus. We are very proud of you all and the way you have responded to this very strange and scary situation that we have found ourselves in. We know that how hard it is to be away from friends and family and that some of you may be very lonely, worried, scared and bored with the way we have had to live over the past couple of months but hopefully we are going in the right direction and things will begin to get easier over the coming weeks.

You have all been working so hard at home and the teachers are all very impressed with the effort you have been putting into your studies. Isn’t it weird to think that in years to come children will be learning about ‘The Year the World Stopped – 2020’ and that you were a part of that – you are a part of history and in maths you should have no problem when it comes to learning about length as we all know how long 2 metres is off by heart!

Keep an eye on the website over the next few weeks as we will have a few updates on the things you have been doing while the school has been closed. In the meantime keep your distance, keep washing your hands and keep yourselves safe.
