That’s a wrap!

Our school year came to an end on Wednesday 23rd of June. It was, as always, a bittersweet day – as we looked forward to our summer holidays but also had to bid farewell to our 6th class students.

It was a day of celebration during which sports day results were announced and awards were presented.

Attendance Awards

Congratulations to our students who didn’t miss any school days during the year.

Sun, Sea and Sand

What a fantastic day we had at the beach on Friday 18th of June. We would like to say a big thank you to our Parents Association who organised this wonderful event. Once again Breege Ward was our guide for the day and she put a huge amount of hard work into making it a very special one. We all met at the beach across from Keadue Park to start our walk to the Blockyard beach.

Once we were divided into our teams, the first activity of the day was to design and build beach pods/shelters. Breege provided each team with the same materials, a tarpaulin, sticks and string. The children could use any other materials they found on the beach to construct and decorate their shelters and the results were fantastic.

After all that hard work it was time for a break and some delicious pancakes served up by our Parents Association.

The next activity was some storytelling and sand sculpting. Each team was read a story with an environmental message and then they had to make a 3D sand sculpture to retell the story they had heard, once again they could use any materials they could find among the rocks and sand.

While we sat and had our lunch break Breege announced that she had heard that some pirates had buried treasure on the beach and soon the place was a hive of activity with everyone using whatever tools they could find to dig for the treasure.

Alas for all their efforts the treasure wasn’t found 🙂

A very competitive Tug o’ War competition was needed to separate the teams at the end of the day when our Beach Day Champions were crowned.

Everyone agreed that it was one of the best days ever had. Beach Day is sure to become a regular fixture in our school year diary.
